FAQ Level 3 FROS: Emergency First Responder

 

The purpose of the FAQ Level 3 Award for First Responders on Scene: Emergency First Responder is to provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to provide the appropriate care prior to the arrival of an ambulance.

 

The qualification covers:

 

• the knowledge and skills relating to scene safety and patient assessment
• life-threatening emergencies, illnesses, medical conditions and injuries.

 

The qualification is aimed at individuals who work or intend to provide immediate emergency care.

 

The Total Qualification Time (TQT) for this qualification is: 30 hours
Guided Learning (GL) for this qualification is: 22 hours
Suitable for Age Ranges: 18+

This qualification is Category C on the FPHC PHEM Skills Framework:

 

Method of Assessment:

 

The qualification consists of four components and includes both knowledge based (MCQ) and competence-based assessment criteria.

 

Entry Guidance:

 

There are no formal entry requirements that a learner must have completed before taking this qualification.

 

Once awarded, the qualification certificate is valid for a period of 3 years. The learner will need to retake the full qualification again before the certificate expiry date in order to remain qualified.

QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF)

 

The QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) also forms part of a progressive suite of Pre-hospital care qualifications that lead to the QA Level 6 Diploma in Paramedic Practice (RQF).

 

Endorsed by The Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care – The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and fulfilling the competencies set out in the PHEM skills framework at descriptor level D, this fantastic qualification is perfect for a range of roles in emergency care, such as: Ambulance Care Assistant (PTS), Community First Responder or Event First Responder and more.

 

Intended Audience

 

The QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification specifically designed for those seeking a career in the emergency services, ambulance service, the event and security medical sector or those who work in high risk workplaces.

 

Course Overview

 

Over a 5 day period, Learners will gain the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to deal with a range of Pre-hospital care emergencies, such as: managing a patient’s airways, catastrophic bleeding, management of fractures, medical emergencies and more.

As the next step for those who have completed the QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF), this qualification provides Learners with a wider scope of practice in Pre-hospital care emergencies, allowing for greater employment opportunities. It also forms part of a progressive suite of Pre-hospital care qualifications that lead to the QA Level 6 Diploma in Paramedic Practice (RQF).

 

Intended Audience

 

The QA Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised Pre-hospital care qualification specifically designed for those looking to progress their career within the NHS or Independent ambulance services as an Emergency Care Assistant (ECA, ECSW, EAC) or event medical provider. It is also ideal for those who are looking to work within specialist roles in the military, police and fire services.

 

Course Overview

Post course there is a mandatory hours logbook to complete.
